The origin of the sappi identity "grew" from the symbolic pine tree and the visually different lowercase logotype. Later the symbol was removed to avoid any association with other lumber compaies. The acronym of the South African Paper and Pulp Industry, sappi was registered as company in 1936. Followed in 1937 by the construction of first mill in South Africa named Enstra. Now a global company focused on providing chemical cellulose, paper-pulp and paper based solutions to its direct and indirect customer base across more than 100 countries with 14,900 employees.
